Depositing with Apple Pay

How to add USDC to your cash balance with Apple Pay from the Debit Card screen, what cards work, the provider fee, limits, and what to do if a payment fails.

Written by Klutch

Apple Pay can fund your cash balance with USDC. On the Deposit screen, tap Debit, which opens the Deposit cash screen. When Apple Pay is available to your account it is already selected there. The funds land in your cash balance, ready to trade.

This is different from the Apple Pay tile on the Deposit screen, which buys a specific token rather than adding to your cash balance. That flow is explained in https://help.fomo.family/en/articles/14434398-buying-a-token-with-apple-pay.

Where to find it

The Deposit screen shows the methods available to your account. On the Deposit cash screen, tap the payment method row at the top to open Details. If Apple Pay isn't listed under Payment method, it isn't available to your account right now, and the debit card option is.

How to deposit

  1. Open Deposit and tap Debit.

  2. Check that the payment method row shows Apple Pay. If it shows Debit card, tap the row, open Details and pick Apple Pay.

  3. Enter the amount in dollars. The button shows the minimum, 5 dollars.

  4. Review the checkout. It shows the payment provider's fee before you pay.

  5. Confirm with Apple Pay. The USDC lands in your cash balance, usually within a few minutes.

Depending on your account, the first deposit can ask you to verify a phone number by text code, to confirm that the wallet is yours, or to complete an identity check. You don't need an account with the payment provider.

Cards, fees and limits

  • Only bank-issued debit cards work. Apple Cash, prepaid cards and virtual cards are declined, even through Apple Pay.

  • Billing details come from the card saved in your Apple Wallet, so there is nothing to type in fomo. If the checkout asks you to confirm your ZIP code, name or billing address, update the card's details in Wallet and try again.

  • fomo adds no fee of its own. The checkout shows the payment provider's fee before you pay, and it comes out of the amount charged, which is why the USDC that lands can be a little less than the dollars charged.

  • Depending on your account, this method can carry a weekly spending limit and a cap on the total number of deposits. Both show under Details on the Deposit cash screen.

  • Your bank statement may show the payment provider's name instead of fomo. That is normal.

If something goes wrong

A generic "Something went wrong with Apple Pay" message is a temporary failure. Try once more, and if it repeats, tap Retry with debit card, or open Details and pick Debit card.

If your card shows a charge but nothing landed, the payment did not complete and the funds never reached your wallet. Your bank is holding an authorization and releases it on its own, usually within 1 to 3 business days. Weekends and holidays don't count. If it is still there after 3 full business days, contact your bank.

If the deposit button sits on "Verification pending" with a spinner, the identity check for this method is stuck on the payment provider's side. There is nothing to resubmit or retry. Use another method on your Deposit screen in the meantime, and message us in the app if you'd like the provider's support contact for your account.
